Things You'll Need:
- An active City of Heroes account

Step 1
Access the City of Heroes Character Copy Tool on the NCSoft site. See Resources below for the link.

Log into the site using your City of Heroes login name and password.

Choose the server where your character is located.

Choose the character you wish to copy over. This step may take a few minutes before the process is complete.

Search your computer for the file names "CohUpdater.exe." This should be located in your City of Heroes program file unless you chose to install the game in another location than the default location.

Create a shortcut to the cohupdater.exe file in the City of Heroes folder.

Open the properties menu of this new shortcut. You can do this by right clicking on the short and choosing "properties."

Add "[space]-test" to the end of the line in the Target window. The line should now look like this:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -test -
Step 5
Run the new shortcut. You will be asked if you want to install the test client server to the default directory, and though you can install it there, it is recommended that you install this server in a different place from your regular game client.

After installation, run the client. The test server interface functions just like the live server interface.
