How to Win Alterac Valley in World of Warcraft
Since patch 2.3, the Alliance has had an inordinately hard time winning Alterac Valley in the face of the new changes made. Old strategies don't work anymore and new times require new approaches. If you find yourself getting trashed in AV time and again, give this method a try. This is by no means the only way to win AV, but it is one of the simplest.

1
Have a Rogue run back and take the Irondeep mine. This will greatly aid the Alliance war effort by providing additional reinforcements. One of the major ways the Horde win AV is through a reinforcement victory. Taking the mine ensures that this victory is a little harder for them. At a later time, have someone else run into and take the Coldtooth (Horde side) mine as well.
-
2
Rush to Snowfall Graveyard and take it. The Horde usually leave this alone, but keep three people there to guard it in case the Horde decide to get ambitious. Taking and holding Snowfall has always been and always will be the first key to a successful AV run.
-
-
3
Assign the first ten people who die to defend Stormpike Graveyard and Dun Baldar.
-
4
Have your entire raid (save the three people guarding Snowfall and the ten defenders) charge to the Frostwolf Relief Hut. This is the tricky part. Charging the Relief Hut is a key element to this strategy and it only works if everyone participates. DO NOT stop to kill Captain Galvangar! Galv is now a death trap and should only be attempted once Frostwolf Village is firmly under Alliance control.
-
5
Capture the Frostwolf Relief Hut, then capture the two Frostwolf Towers. Remember to keep at least three people at each point (Relief Hut and each tower) until they cap. Leaving them unguarded is a recipe for disaster.
-
6
Have 10-15 people start moving back north when the Relief Hut has been captured. These groups will work their way north and capture the Frostwolf Graveyard, Tower Point and the Iceblood Garrison. If the Horde are heavily defending anything, leave it. Reinforcements are a major factor now and loosing any troops in failed attacks is a major detriment to the war effort. Again, remember to defend each tower until it caps!
-
7
Start pulling Warmasters once the two Frostwolf towers have been destroyed. If you can spare it, wait until Iceblood and Tower Point have been destroyed; this will leave Drek'Thar open to attack.
-
8
Waste Drek'Thar and claim victory!
