Every kid has to deal with spelling tests. What makes the difference between failure and success on a spelling test? Study habits. Anyone can do well on spelling tests with a little guidance.
Always study in writing rather than orally, unless you're practicing for a spelling bee. Practice in writing because your test will be in writing.
Step2
Fold your piece of paper into four vertical columns. Copy the first word from your book or list, then cover it up and write it in the next column.
Step3
Unfold your paper and check the word to make sure it's spelled correctly. Then fold your paper, write it again, and then check it again. Repeat this step one more time.
Step4
When you open your paper you should see the word correctly spelled four times. If you have made a mistake, repeat the process again. You want to drill the correct spelling into your brain.
Step5
After you've practiced all your words, ask a parent or friend or sibling to give you a test. If you miss any words on the test, practice those words again.
Tips & Warnings
Use this method and become an expert speller.
If your test is on Friday, don't wait until Thursday night to start studying your spelling words.
