When bad things come your way, a great way to grow and stay positive, is to look for the silver lining. There is always a reason certain things happen...it might be a better opportunity is on it's way...or this needed to happen for you to grow in that direction...but how do you not get angry and negative, and stay positive?

  1. Step 1

A very wise author Joe Vitale, wrote that every bad thing that happens to us, happens for a reason. A great way to get past the negativity, is to look for the silver lining. Now I know you probably can't do this for everything, like deaths, or car accidents...but you can start on a smaller scale.

  2. Step 2

Say you're at a job and you don't get that promotion you were gunning for. You're bitter, angry and upset. Try looking at the silver lining. You obviously didn't get that promotion because there is something better coming your way. Whether it's quitting your current job to find a better one, or that position would cause you to lose time with your family, etc, there is always something positive that comes from a negative occurance.

  3. Step 3

The hard thing, is to not let your emotions get in the way. Really reflect on the event and look for the silver lining. I know it's hard, but even if you take some time, and than look back, I'm sure you'll find something positive.

  4. Step 4

Life is what we make of it. If we always play the victim, you are going no where. By looking for the silver lining in things, you are being more pro-active and choosing to be positive and to grow. A part of life is knowing when to move on, and when to grab opportunities. Don't stand back and wait for life to happen, life is what you make of it.
