Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Always remember that press releases should only be used for serious items. News that you want to tell the world. Examples are; your new website, your new product, the way you are helping your community, a new management team, an annoucement etc. Press releases should not be done just to advertise yourself. If you write a press release that isn't newsworthy, it will get denied.
Step2
Always write your press release in third person. Be serious. Make sure you have contact information, remember it needs to be a story. It's not a marketing letter, but needs to tell the reader something important. Be sure to have a few quotes, the full title of the person, and a link to your website.
Step3
There are many great sites that will give you samples of how to write a press release. Just remember to keep it serious. Always put a link on your website to your PR stories. This will give you credibility.
Step4
Remember, press releases are a great way to get more traffic to your site, as usually they have high page ranking. Some make you pay money, but there are more than enough, free ones, so look around. Once you are comfortable writing them, you'll be surprised about how often you have a newsworthy story about your company.
