How to change the oil in your r/c car shocks

if you race or your just a backyard basher your shocks will leak and you wont adsorb bumps as good and bottom out easier

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • shock oil
  • pliers
  • towel to put the shocks on

Step1
take the shocks off your r/c car their should be bolts and nuts holding the shocks at the top of the shock and at the bottom as well
Step2
pull the spring up and at the bottom of the shock where the spring rest you will see a slit where you can push it out, push it out and set it to the side
Step3
at the top of the shock you will see you put a wrench to it and twist instead of using wrench use pliers to grip at the bottom half and twist the top half to remove the top of the shock exposing the inside of the shaft and piston
Step4
turn the shock up side down a let all the oil pour out push the piston down to let some more oil pour out
Step5
this is team associated shock oil pour in new shock oil almost all the way to the top but not quite to the top (shock oil is available online or at a local hobbies shop) your manual the came with your car should tell you what kind of oil to use
Step6
put the top of the shock back on make sure its on good now push the piston up and let go the rod should push a little bit and that is all you have to do for all four shocks

Tips & Warnings

  • use the towel to place you shocks on working on r/ cars can be very dirty
  • this takes somebody who has a little knowledge about rc cars
