Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Wash the red canvas apron and dry it. This will allow any shrinking to happen before you start adding embellishments.

  2. Step 2

Lay the red apron out flat on the table. Iron beforehand if needed.

  3. Step 3

Slide the white felt square under the top of the apron at the collar. Line up the top of the square with the top of the apron.

  4. Step 4

Trace the shape of the top of the apron on the white felt. Remove the felt. Draw a collar for the top of the Santa Apron craft using the traced neckline as a guide. Cut out in the shape of a white collar.

  5. Step 5

Place the white felt on top of the apron at the neck and glue into place. Line the neck line up perfectly before gluing in place.

  6. Step 6

Cut out black felt circles to mimic the buttons on Santa’s suit. Glue these down the front of the red canvas patron. Use puff paint or fabric paint to paint buttonholes on the black dots.

  7. Step 7

Cut out a strip of black felt that is as wide as the waist. It should be three inches tall. Glue this across the waist of the apron with fabric glue.

  8. Step 8

Cut out a yellow square of felt that is 4 by 4 inches. Inside of this square cut out a 3 by 3-inch square. Glue this belt buckle into the middle of the black felt belt.

  9. Step 9

Cut out a strip of white felt that is as wide as the bottom of the apron and four inches tall. Scallop the edges of the fabric with scissors. Work around all of the straight edges.

  10. Step 10

Glue the white felt onto the bottom of the Santa Clause apron to mimic the furry edge on Santa’s apron. Wait 24 hours for all the fabric glue to dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Fabric paint can be used in place of felt cut-outs.
  • Real buttons can also be used for the black buttons made from felt. Get creative and customize any details you wish with leftover craft materials.
  • Warning: Always pre-wash the apron and dry it. This is necessary for fabric paint to adhere well.
