Things You'll Need:
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/3 cup water
- 2 8-inch cake pans

Step 1
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 2
Add eggs and vanilla, beating 1 minute at medium speed.

Step 3
Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add to bowl, alternating with water to make a creamy mixture.

Step 4
Pour batter into two greased and floured 8-inch cake pans.

Step 5
Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 to 40 minutes.
