It's possible to multitask and prepare a quick meal with one hand.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger or 1 teaspoon dried
  • 4 small Halibut steaks 4 ounces each
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

    Cook with One Hand

  1. Step 1

Using one hand, remove the rack of the broiler pan from the bottom of the oven and place it on the counter, leaving enough room for you to work.

  2. Step 2

Place the pan in a sturdy position and coat the rack with cooking spray.

  3. Step 3

Turn on the broiler to heat at 350 using your right or left hand.

  4. Step 4

Secure a small bowl in a mixer holder so that the ingredients will not splatter and whisk syrup, mustard and ginger. If the mixer holder is electric, you should have no trouble getting the ingredients to whisk well.

  5. Step 5

Season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper.

  6. Step 6

Tear off enough foil wrap to place the fish on top of it. Place the rectangular box on the countertop to have a steady tear and tear toward you.

  7. Step 7

After placing the fish on the foil open the broiler to place the fish on the broiler rack; brush glaze on top. Close the broiler door.

  8. Step 8

Broil the fish six inches from the heat for eight to 10 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add salt to taste (this rule is optional).
  • Garnish with lime slices if desired.
  • Be careful to watch the browning of the fish due to the varying heating capacity of ovens.
