How to Prepare Suzanne's Butter Pound Cake

Here's a dessert favorite that's not hard to make.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  1. Step 1

    Cream the butter and shortening until smooth.

  2. Step 2

    Add the sugar 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each 1/2 cup.

  3. Step 3

    Add the eggs, 1 at a time.

  4. Step 4

    Alternate between adding milk and flour.

  5. Step 5

    Add vanilla and baking powder.

  6. Step 6

    Do not preheat oven. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
