How to Be Successful in God's Eyes
Success is normally thought of as climbing the ladder in the business or political world. God's view of success is very different than the world's view. Perhaps you thought of yourself as being unsuccessful. Reputation is a tool the Bible uses to measure success. Review the information in these steps to see if you are successful according to God.

Fruit of the Spirit as shown in Galatians 5:22-23 is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are good qualities to have in being successful. The sinful nature as described in Galatians 5:17-21 (sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like) is in contrast to the fruit of the Spirit.

In the wisdom book of Proverbs, the qualities of success are found in verses 10:7 (The memory of the righteous will be a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot.), 16:3 (Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.), 21:21 (He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.), and 28:13 (He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.) How can you apply these qualities to your life? Continually seek God and His righteousness to help you stay on the right path. Whatever you have to do during the day, commit those tasks to the Lord, and ask for His guidance in doing them. Look through the glasses of goodness and love. You may see some people differently. Be honest when you fall. No human is perfect, and we need each other to grow in righteousness.

The qualities that can prevent you from being successful in God's eyes, and give you a bad reputation are hating (Proverbs 26:24-26 - A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but in his heart he harbors deceit. Though his speech is charming, do not believe him, for seven abominations fill his heart. His malice may be concealed by deception, but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly), lying (Proverbs 13:5 - The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace), evil (Proverbs 11:6 - The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires), exalting yourself (Proverbs 27:2 - Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips) and not admitting failures (Proverbs 28:13 - He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy).
