Things You'll Need:
- Fabric
- Fusible interfacing
- Pinking shears
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- No Fray spray product
- Paper
- Pencil
- Iron
-
Step 1
Cut out a sheet of paper to 12-by-18 inches.
-
Step 2
Fold the paper in half, making it 12 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Trace half of a heart on the fold.
-
Step 3
Cut the heart out and discard the scraps.
-
Step 1
Wash and dry the fabric before you start the project. This will allow for shrinking.
-
Step 2
Trace the heart pattern onto your fabric and interfacing. Trace the shape with a pencil or piece of chalk.
-
Step 3
Cut out the 2 hearts. One will be from the fabric and one will be from the fusible interfacing.
-
Step 4
Iron the fusible interfacing to the back of the heart shaped fabric. Place the shiny side of the interfacing against the back of the fabric. Slowly iron the 2 together on a medium high heat. Let the fabric cool.
-
Step 5
Check to make sure the interfacing is firmly attached to the fabric. If it is loose at all you need to iron until they are firmly together.
-
Step 6
Sew around the heart shaped fabric with your sewing machine. You want to sew this line about 1 inch in from the edge of the fabric. You can use any stitch pattern and thread color you like.
-
Step 7
Trim the edge of the heart with your pinking shears. This will create a fun pattern on the edge of the fabric.
-
Step 8
Apply a no fray product to the edge of the fabric. This will prevent the edges you cut with the pinking sheers from fraying.
