Being a teenager is hard enough without acne making it worse. There is such a stigma around people suffering from acne, with perceptions that they are "unclean" or are doing something wrong to create their acne. This is, of course, completely false, as acne is formed from excess oil in the skin. Here are some tips that will help in treating acne.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wash your face only twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening before going to bed. In certain circumstances you should wash it more than twice, like after exercising or doing any kind of physical activity that makes you sweat.

  2. Step 2

Use a gentle cleanser that won’t irritate your skin.

  3. Step 3

Use a toner. Find one that is gentle and won’t over-dry your skin. A toner helps to balance your skin and will remove any residue left over by your cleanser.

  4. Step 4

Use medicated spot treatments. You can either apply these prior to applying makeup or before you go to bed. These spot treatments will help dry up pimples. Certain concealers have ingredients in them to help fight pimples.

  5. Step 5

Use oil-free moisturizers. Put less moisturizer on your T-zone (chin, forehead and nose area) as that’s where most of the oil builds up.

  6. Step 6

Use a deep pore cleansing mask at least once a week. This will clear out your pores and help prevent the development of new pimples.

  7. Step 7

Exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating will remove the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin and help in unblocking your pores.

Tips & Warnings
  • Only use oil-free, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and dermatologist-recommended makeup.
  • Never wear makeup to bed! Leaving your makeup on will only end up blocking your pores and help in the formation of new pimples.
