Knowledge of basic web site building
Step1
Do not use splash pages. Some splash page take time to open and most surfers are impatient. Let the surfer see your web page and eliminate the splash page.
Step2
Do not use excessive banner advertisements. Instead, provide more valuable content and let your visitors feel that they want to buy instead of being pushed to buy.
Step3
Provide simple and clear navigation. Stay away from complicated Flash based menus or multi-tiered drop down menus. If your visitors don't know how to navigate your site you will loose them.
Step4
Keep the typeface for your headlines copy simple and easy to read by using arial or times roman. Fancy typefaces are o.k. for logos.
Step5
Avoid using background music on your site. If you insist on adding audio, make sure they have some control over it -- volume or muting controls would work fine.
Step6
Keep images small enough so the web page loads quickly. Visitor’s don’t like waiting.
