I know a lot of people aspire to be singers and songwriters. With a few tricks of the trade you can get yourself there, and improve your singing voice. With a lot of determination and a little hard work, We can get there! It's nice to have a little direction and push to reach your dreams. I hope this helps you, I know it will if you believe in yourself! Good Luck!

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lots of Water
  • Voice Lessons
  • A Notebook
  • Self Confidence
  • An MP3 Player
  • A Demo CD
  1. Step 1

Find out what kind of music you want to sing. Many people already know their style, but if your are not sure you NEED to go an do some soul-searching. Who is your favorite artist? Why? Sing in front of a friend or your mom and ask them what in their opinion your voice sounds like. They might say Pop, rock, or jazz. But either way you'll get some insight on your destiny. You might have to break the mold and start your own style! Even better!

  2. Step 2

Study, Study, Study. Find voice lessons and stick with them. They will teach you breathing techniques and exercises that WILL improve your singing voice. Hopefully if you have an ipod, you can put all your favorite music you aspire to on it. If not make a mix CD or two. It's all about studying your favorite artists and learning why they are so great. What is it about their lyrics? Their singing style? Their attitude? All these things can help you develop your own personal style. Any famous artist today has musical inspiration. And you can tell that their inspirations influenced their music and their singing voice. You want to be a great mixture of all the music legends mixed with your own flavor! That's the greatest recipe for being a stand-out singer.

  3. Step 3

PREPARE! Drink lots of water to keep your vocal chords hydrated. About a gallon a day. Start jogging or other forms of cardio, this is to strengthen your diaphragm as well as to increase your lung capacity. The stamina also helps for performing high-energy shows. This takes motivation and discipline, you need to get in shape and stay healthy. I don't mean lose weight, just get in good physical shape so you can be a strong, healthy singer. Take Beyonce for example, she runs 5-6 miles a day and she has such a powerful voice! Start with one mile and work your way up. Every time you are inspired, write down your lyrics, the more personal and meaningful, the better. Keep a notebook by your bed. The best songs come out of a dream at night. If don't have a voice recorder, get one to capture melodies so you don't forget them! Better yet if you can buy a MAC so you can use Garage Band to compose your own music with the touch of a button! That way you can start a demo CD. If you don't have any music equipment, research music studios you can go to make a Demo CD. It might be more than you can afford, but YOU'RE DREAM IS WORTH IT! Right? Don't forget to use the internet to promote your music. The most important part is visualization. Make sure you right your dreams down in a detailed manner. Visualize yourself onstage with a roaring crowd of your fans! This will speed up your dreams coming to reality! Good Luck! See you in Hollywood! ;)

Tips & Warnings
  • Stay on Track
  • Surround yourself with supportive people with similar dreams.
  • Go to a lot of concerts!
  • Dress, talk, and act like you are already a famous singer.
  • Believe in YOURSELF!!!
  • Stay away from negative people who don't believe in your dream.
  • Stay away from drugs and drinking.
  • NEVER give up!
  • The music industry is tough, so don't let anyone, not even a professional tell you you're not good enough. Some of the greatest stars have been put down many times before they made it to the top!
