Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Make it simple. In creating a simple prayer to God, think of the word ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication) to ask God for something. There is no right place or time to offer prayer. People pray on busy street corners and dusty cornfields. The prayer of adoration glorifies God and everything about God that we praise. It is here that we offer all the adjectives of glory for God. As people begin to pray, meditation in times of trouble calms the heart as they come into the presence of God. Don't feel rushed at this stage of prayer (and feel free to return to this part of the prayer.
Step2
Tell God what is on your mind. Confess the shortcoming of your life or the low points of your day. If a person is unsure of his faith, it is at this stage of prayer that it helps to verbalize it. Many people discover that the greater time they spends in confession, the more answers arrive. It is a place to tell the truth, even if it cannot be put it into words. If people shed tears here, often there are matters that need tending and healing may be forthcoming.
Step3
Know that the letter T which stands for Thanksgiving is the point of blessing counting. It may be a comparison to someone much worst off or the need to look to the past but everyone has blessings. Give thanks with a grateful heart for the smallest stroke of good fortune in life. Sometimes we must look to the future with hope to find a way to give thanks.
Step4
Understand supplication. These are the humble prayers we offer to God asking for the needs we have in life for others and ourselves. In public worship, prayers of supplication include needs of the people including healing, prosperity, repair of broken relationships, and whatever needs we have. In private prayer, God remains open to human wants and desires. In monotheistic religions, God promised to care for our needs and becomes aware of those needs through prayers of supplication.
