How to Connect a Satellite Receiver to a VCR

For those of us who have not moved to the newer model satellite receivers with DVR we still need to record shows the old-fashioned way...with our VCR. These step-by-step instructions will make connecting the receiver and vcr to the television easy breezy!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• 2 Coaxial cables (rg 6)with connectors
• VCR
• Satellite Receiver
• Television

1. Unplug your television, satellite receiver and VCR from the electrical outlet.

2. Position the television, satellite receiver and VCR so that you can see the back of all three.

3. Take a coaxial cable and connect one end to the output of your satellite receiver. Connect the other end to the input of your VCR.

4. Take the second coaxial cable and connect it to the output of your VCR. Then connect the other end to your television.

5. Plug everything back in (preferably through a surge protector).

6. Turn on the television and return to your regular programming.

Tips & Warnings

• When you are not taping a show it is a good idea to only use the satellite remote.
• When taping a show you will have to have your VCR on the appropriate channel. You will also have to set your satellite receiver to the channel you wish to record. This can be done in advance by marking shows to watch in your satellite guide.
• Do a couple of test runs on taping to make sure your settings are correct.
