How to Create Your Own Special Household Fragrances

Create your own special fragrances for your home that can add a special touch for the season. Commercial deodorizer and household sprays may not be the kind of fragrance that you like. Making your own fragrance sprays with pure ingredients not only makes it better for your health but you can change the fragrances to your liking according to the seasons and/or the occasions.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Small clean spray bottle (preferably glass)
• Fragrance Oil
• Vegetable glycerin
• Rubbing alcohol
• Distilled water

1. Pour distilled water in spray bottle 3/4's full.
2. Add to a little less than the 1/4 space left in the spray bottle add half of it with vegetable glycerin and half of it with the alcohol.
3. To the water, vegetable glycerin and alcohol mix add 3 or 4 drops of your choice of fragrance oil.
4. There should be enough space left in the spray bottle to gently shake the ingredients to mix the water and oils.

Tips & Warnings

• Try various kinds of fragrance oils to find out which ones you like best. Remember the ingredients are a bit oily so you do not want to spray it on furniture or fabrics. The alcohol will eventually evaporate but does give it a preservative quality so the spray can be used for quite awhile.
• Although the mixture would not necessarily be flammable with plenty of water in it the usual precautions should be taken as with any other kinds of household deodorizer or oily mixtures. This should be properly labeled and never taken internally. Always make sure the containers you use are sterile and free of any other chemicals that it might have contained previously.
