With today's hectic schedules, it often helps to run your email, calendar and reminders in one feature. Utilizing Microsoft Outlook's calendar feature will ensure that you'll never miss an appointment because you lost track of time surfing the Web.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Email account set up with Microsoft Outlook
  1. Step 1

Click on the Microsoft Outlook icon on your task bar or desktop.

  2. Step 2

Click on the calendar feature in the left-hand column under the "Folders" menu to open it.

  3. Step 3

Double click on the time you would like to schedule an appointment for that day, or click on a future date on the calendar to the right and then double click on the appropriate time.

  4. Step 4

Insert the name or the details of the appointment under the "Subject" heading, and note where this appointment will take place under the "Location" heading.

  5. Step 5

Provide any additional details in the large white text box below.

  6. Step 6

Use the drop-down menus to schedule your appointment for the correct time. You may also use the other drop-down menu to change the date of your appointment.

  7. Step 7

Check the "Reminder" box below the drop-down menu if you would like Microsoft Outlook to send you a reminder of the event.

  8. Step 8

Use the toolbar on the top of the calendar pop-up box to invite other attendees to this event, schedule it as a recurring event or establish the event's level of importance.

Tips & Warnings
  • After you've scheduled your appointment and close its pop-up window, click back on your monthly calendar to ensure that your event shows up and that all of its details are correct.
  • You can use the calendar's availability function to show others in your network when you are busy, out of the office or tentatively scheduled to attend an event.
  • If you schedule events that have a start time that overlaps, make sure to look to the right of your first event to see if your second event was scheduled. Be cautious when casually glancing at your calendar, as these second appointments can often be overlooked.

on 8/11/2008 I have Outlook 2003 at my work. Wanted to know if it’s possible to create some sort of register hyperlink that will allow our employees to register for a class on our intra net site and have the system send me a notification to accept or decline…

Thanks
