It can be scary to sit down for an exam and realize that all the questions are in essay form. With a little planning and organizing, you can turn all your knowledge in to well crafted essays that get you the marks you want.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take your time to think through your answers. You don't want to rush and make a mistake. Read each question several times so that you are clear about what is being asked.

  2. Step 2

Plan what you will write. Turn the paper over and outline the essay so that you can follow your outline when you write your answers.

  3. Step 3

Write a strong thesis statement in the introduction of your essay. Outline your idea and how you propose to prove your point. Include supporting details.

  4. Step 4

Write a paragraph for each main point of the essay. Then write a conclusion tying all the parts of the essay together. Your essay should include an introduction, two or three main paragraphs and a conclusion.

  5. Step 5

Pace yourself. Look at the amount of essays you need to complete and how much each question is worth. Divide your time up so that you spend an amount of time that corresponds with what the question is worth.

  6. Step 6

Make sure you answer each part of the essay question. You don't want to only half answer a question so make sure you are clear on what the instructor wants.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your eye on the time.
  • Don't panic. Go on to the next question if you are stuck on one essay.
