The Reverse Eight Noose Knot is one of the family of Noose Knots. Unlike Noose Knots used for the gallows, the Reverse Eight Noose is not a true running noose. It is often used for tying packages and stringing yoyos.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start with jute or twine. Make a loop with the ends of the twine crossed at the top of the loop with the right-side end of the twine running over top the left.

  2. Step 2

Bring the right-side end of the twine back under the loop on both the left then right sides. Then loop the end over the loop on the right side and weave it under, then over, the twine that spans the inside of the loop.

  3. Step 3

Repeat the knot twice to tie a package, using two separate lengths of jute or twine. Use an overhand knot to secure the ends of the two lengths after the knots are completed.

  4. Step 4

To tie a yoyo, untwine the dual-strand yoyo cord. Double one of the strands and re-twine it with the yoyo in the middle. Trim the noose carefully so that the yoyo can spin fast and called up with a single, firm pull.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never play with a noose or any other knot around someone's neck. Once tightened, a noose can be very difficult to loosen and may cause strangulation and death.
