Step 1
Study the uses of the Strangle Snare. It is best used as a running knot in a snare since the pull is easily adjustable. Unlike a Hangman's Noose, the running knot on a Strangle Snare should slip easily when trapping an animal but prevent the loop from opening as force is applied from within the loop.
-
Step 2
Start by making a simple curved loop of rope that does not overlap. This loop is called a bight in knot-making. Lay the standing end over the working end. This is an unusual feature of the Strangle Snare as most knots require you to handle the working end.
-
Step 3
Bring the standing end under the bight. Then bring it back over the bight again so that there are now two loops over the bight. Bring the standing end back under the bight again and down so that it is parallel with the working end.
-
Step 4
Pull this third loop that you just formed up and through the first two loops to form a noose.
-
Step 5
Set and dress the knot by pulling together on the two ends. This should produce a running snare.
