Macramé is a form of art that uses knots in everything from woven paintings to plant holders. Not only can you make some really cool gifts with Macramé, you can create memorable objects for family and friends that will last a lifetime. One popular knot is the Double Figure Eight Loop. Here's how to tie it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create a long loop in your rope to begin.

  2. Step 2

Form a figure eight loop with your rope.

  3. Step 3

Move a piece of the figure eight under the loop you made and form another figure eight.

  4. Step 4

Pass the second loop you made down over the rest of the figure eight and over the entire knot.

  5. Step 5

Pull the knot tight to hold in place. This will lock the two loops. You just learned how to tie a Double Figure Eight Loop Knot. Now implement it into your Macramé art work.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use macramé to create great holiday or birthday gifts for your friends. It's inexpensive, thoughtful and creative.
  • If your rope has frayed ends, use a lighter to burn them before you begin to tie your knots. This will smooth the edges and make your life a whole lot easier.
  • This knot is of moderate strength. Do not rely on it for heavy-duty work or holding. Also, always consider the thickness or "test" that your rope is approved to hold.
