Finding software for an outdated computer does not have to be a stressful task. Many people still use older computers that are out of date compared to today's models. Finding software for your outdated computer is easy if done properly. Most older software is much less expensive than the newer versions.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Use the Internet to search for software for your operating system. For example, if you are running Windows 95, type in "Windows 95 software" in the search box. Some older model software can be downloaded off the Internet from sites like Download.com. Other options are to purchase the software from sites like eBay or Craigslist (see Resources below).
Step2
Visit garage sales and estate sales to look for older software for your outdated computer. Many people sell out-of-date software in good condition in their garage sales.
Step3
Search resale stores and flea markets. A large amount of older software is sold at stores like Goodwill and the Salvation Army. Check local pawn shops to see if they have any software available. Pawn shops may carry software sometimes but it is not one of their regular products.
Step4
Shop local computer stores that buy, sell and trade software. These stores may also carry older computer games. If you are not sure if a store carries software, call them ahead of time to see what they have in stock.
