The object of Guts Poker is to make the best hand you possibly can with only 3 cards. Straights and flushes are made with the 3 cards and straights beat flushes. You can play this game with a regular 52-card deck or online. The following will show you how to play the game of Guts Poker.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 to 10 players
  • 52-card deck
  1. Step 1

Ask all players to ante in by placing their bid on the table. The amount will depend upon the stake table you are sitting at or the amount required in the game you are playing online.

  2. Step 2

Deal out 3 cards 1 at a time face down to all players.

  3. Step 3

Instruct each player to look at their cards and then choose to stay in the game or to fold. All players must do so at the same time. If you fold at this time you do not have to match the pot at the end of the game, however you have no chance to win the pot.

  4. Step 4

Tell those players that have chosen to remain in the game to reveal their cards to all players at the table.

  5. Step 5

Win the pot if you have the best hand from among the players that have not chosen to fold. Take the winnings from the middle of the table.

  6. Step 6

Match the pot if you have stayed in the game and lost, which will be added to the pot for the next round. Those who have matched the pot do not have to ante in for the following round.

Tips & Warnings
  • If all the players in the game choose to fold, the players re-ante and are dealt 3 new cards to redo the round. Continue this way until the pot is won.
  • If there is a tie, the pot is split.
  • If you lose the hand and do not have enough money to match the pot, you must sit out for the following round.
