Find flowers that will keep their color. Some milder varieties, when pressed and dehydrated, will just appear drab. Find violets or bright-colored varieties to press.

Take the flowers you will be using and keep them pressed inside a book for a period of time. It's good to use a thick, heavy book like an encyclopedia or unabridged dictionary; using plastic sheeting will help protect the pages from errant plant pigments.

When your plants have dried (experts recommend two weeks), assemble the rest of the materials you'll need. Include a good strong card structure, glue (almost any kind will do), scissors, and pens for writing on the card.

To add flowers to the card, take a tiny amount of glue and add it to the back of the plant before pressing your plant onto the card surface. Let the glue dry and shake to make sure it is attached. Continue adding all of the flowers you want as necessary to your preferred composition.

Don't over-glue. The key to a pristine card is to get the minimal amount of glue to hold the pressed flowers in place. Some people recommend using a toothpick to apply glue, and tweezers to gently place the flowers onto the card. Use these as necessary.
