Horse racing has been a staple of the American sporting life for almost 100 years. The names of the winning horses echo throughout the sport as ultimate competitors. These great horses are ultimately what makes the sport so esteemed. The site that celebrates the racehorse's career is the racing hall of fame. Before enshrinement, a horse must be nominated to the hall of fame.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Understand that a horse is not eligible for nomination until 5 calendar years after the horse's last official racing year.
Step2
Know that horses remain eligible between 5 and 25 calendar years after retirement. After this time has elapsed a Thoroughbred horse nominator may obtain a nomination by the historic review committee.
Step3
Assemble all relevant information and data pertaining to the nominated horse. Gather as much press clipping, videos, articles and other media supporting the nomination of the horse.
Step4
Submit the horse's name and supporting data to the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame for consideration. Each person on the committee may submit one horse for nomination and in addition, any person from the public may submit a horse for nomination (see Resources below).
Step5
Realize that after the nomination committee approves the nomination it is then sent to the voting panel of the racing hall of fame for final approval. Candidates that get 75% of the ballots will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Step6
Recognize that a person can submit a nomination again each year for possible induction until the 25th year after retirement.
