Wicker furniture is a timeless piece of furniture that can be used both indoors and outdoors. Wicker can be painted a different color and new fabric can be added to give it a whole new look. Old wicker furniture can be renewed by converting it to a different function.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Study the wicker furniture to be recycled. Can it be reused in its present condition?

  2. Step 2

Clean the wicker furniture by vacuuming with a brush attachment. Vacuum in the crevices and in the hard-to-reach areas. Wipe the wicker down with a mixture of warm water and a few drops of dishwashing soap. Rinse with a damp rag dipped into clean water.

  3. Step 3

Repair any loose wicker parts using tacky glue. Hold down the repaired wicker using blue painting tape. Remove the tape when the glue has dried over 24 hours.

  4. Step 4

Give wicker furniture a new life by painting over it with a fresh coat of paint. Apply a stenciled design for a new look.

  5. Step 5

Turn a wicker chair into a cute planter by cutting a hole out of the seat of the chair. Place a plastic planter inside the hole. Fill the planter with a light-weight, soil-less mix. Add plants and flowers to the planter.

  6. Step 6

Modify wicker furniture by turning it into different types of furniture. Take a rectangle wicker storage box and turn it into a coffee table by adding a glass top. Do the same with a wicker square box and add a glass top to make it a side table or nightstand.

  7. Step 7

Turn plain old shelves into a beautiful storage center by adding wicker baskets in various designs and colors.
