How to Anonymously Pay Someone's Property Taxes

If you are trying to do a good deed and pay someone's taxes, there are many ways to do so. One, of course, is to remain anonymous while you take care of the bill. Pay through a website, in person or by mail. You can remain anonymous even if you have to simply refuse to leave your name.

Instructions

1. Contact the county tax collector's office and explain your wish to pay the taxes and remain anonymous. If they do not have any problems with your plan, simply continue to the cashier. Otherwise, the remaining steps will be of help to you.

2. Obtain a copy of the tax bill you want to pay. If you frequently visit the person who owes the taxes, simply keep an eye out for their tax bill laying around. Stealthily take the statement with you when you leave.

3. View the list of overdue taxes (often posted in the county courthouse). Write down the account number information you need to identify the parcel of land you want to pay the taxes on. Take the tax information to the tax office and let them know you want to pay it.

4. Pay the tax bill with cash to remain anonymous. You already know the amount due from the information you have in your possession. Paying in cash will keep your name from ever coming up.

5. Ask the tax clerk to send a receipt in the mail using name and address information attached to the account instead of giving it to you.

6. Visit the tax assessor's website to see if you will be able to pay the bill online with just the address or parcel number. However, you need to give a credit card for the payment. This means it is not totally anonymous, and someone will know you paid the bill.

7. Choose to pay the bill by mail with a money order enclosed. The receipt goes to the address involved.
