Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get some information. The first place you want to start is by reading up on the organization. You can do this at their website and by speaking with their office personnel.

  2. Step 2

Decide what area you want to volunteer in. There are different areas to volunteer in, anything from mentoring children to helping in the office and campaigning. There is something for everyone. If you aren't sure what is involved, make sure you ask an organization representative for the details.

  3. Step 3

Print an application form. Application forms are available on the website and in PDF format. Print the required forms and fill them out completely and correctly. If you have any questions about any of the required information on the applications, be sure to call the office for direction.

  4. Step 4

Call for orientation information. Volunteer orientation is required for all volunteers. It is here that you turn in your application forms, learn what your job entails, learn protocol and possibly get matched with a child who needs you as a role model.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are interested in doing something, but not in the capacity of mentoring, talk with them about their annual fundraisers or open employment positions within the organization.
