Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is an organization that educates school age children and teens about the dangers of drunk driving. Each year there are numerous fatalities due to teens driving drunk after the prom. If you are in charge of organizing a high school prom, you should request that members of MADD chaperone the event.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make up flyers. The flyers can give the prom details and request that any members of MADD contact you directly about chaperoning the prom.

  2. Step 2

Contact the local chapter of MADD. If you don't get any response to your flyers, look for the closest MADD chapter in your area. Give them a call and request that they ask members if they would be interested in attending the prom.

  3. Step 3

Find out their guidelines regarding chaperoning a prom. The chapter may have rules as far as chaperoning proms. See if you can work with their guidelines in order to have the members attend.

  4. Step 4

Check to see how many volunteers they can get for the prom. Let them know how many chaperones you want and see if they can get fill your request.

  5. Step 5

See if they can bring along promotional materials. If you want MADD chaperones, then you're probably concerned about the teens driving drunk. Find out if they are willing to help prevent this from happening. They may be able to set up a stand with promotional materials or can help give rides home to students who are intoxicated.

Tips & Warnings
  • MADD volunteers can also assist you in the prom-planning process. They can give you safe prom suggestions.
  • If there is a shortage of MADD volunteers who want to chaperone the prom, think of an incentive, like a gift card, to generate more interest.
