The prom is the perfect time for a male makeover. With everyone at school expecting people to do something drastic for the big day, a male makeover carries the potential benefit of making a great year-end splash while minimizing the risk of embarrassment. Follow these steps to get a great male makeover for the prom.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start early. Go for the makeover at least a couple days before prom. Giving yourself this kind of buffer will ensure that if things go drastically wrong, you will have time to fix the mistakes. Also, be sure to make appointments and allocate time for everything since many local hair stylists and fashion professionals will be busy with other prom-goers.

  2. Step 2

Start with the hair. For men, the hairstyle will be the most noticeable and significant part of the makeover. The trick is to find a hair stylist that you can trust. Take a look at a couple different stylists and, as embarrassing as it might seem, ask to see photos of some of their work. Be open to things like highlights, bleaching and products to make the new hair style effective.

  3. Step 3

Tame and sculpt the facial hair. If you have some wild facial hair growing, get it tamed for the dance. However, don't focus only on what's on your chin. You might not be bothered by that mono-brow or protruding nose hairs, but others have definitely winced upon seeing them. Head to a beautician to get all the facial hair issues sorted out.

  4. Step 4

Get a tan. Since you're most likely going to be wearing a tuxedo to the prom, there's not much for you to do in the fashion department. Instead, focus on what shows—your skin. Throw on some sunscreen and head outdoors to catch some rays. If you live under overcast skies, then get yourself to the nearest tanning salon for a few hours on a tanning bed or a full body spray to even out your pre-summer pallor.

  5. Step 5

Get some accessories. Most men cringe at the idea of an accessory but the fact is that a fat silver bracelet or a light gold chain can turn you from boring to bling. Consider engraved cuff links, bracelets or a smooth-looking tie pin to complete your makeover at prom. Just go with your gut and know where to draw the line, no matter what your makeover advisers are urging you to do.
