When you feel that intense yearning for a steaming bowl of crawfish etoufée or the unrivaled taste of New Orleans pecan pie, you don't need to travel to southern Louisiana. You need some good Creole recipes you can make at home to satisfy that hankering.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ask your librarian if the title "The 100 Greatest New Orleans Creole Recipes" by Roy F. Guste is on the shelf. If not, request that she order it. Alternately, you can purchase it from Amazon.com.

  2. Step 2

Join a newsgroup with others who want to discuss Creole recipes. "Kickin' Cajun Cooks" is a member of Yahoo Groups. Those who post to this site share their passion for Creole and Cajun recipes. Registration is required. Plan on contributing your knowledge of Creole cooking while learning from like-minded cooks, both beginner and advanced.

  3. Step 3

Sign up to receive Creole newsletters from Airseychelles.net to find the latest in Creole dishes and cooking techniques. The airline that calls themselves "The Creole Spirit," offers their subscribers the best in recipes, cooking techniques and even a little folklore. They feature a Creole recipe each month (See Resources).

  4. Step 4

Read an online book. Visit Shutmymouth.com for all your Creole cooking needs. Click on "Cook It" for plenty of free tasty recipes from their online book, "Maison Louisianne's Creole Recipes" by Chef Michael Reese II. You can also ask the Chef a cooking question. They offer hard-to-find Creole seasonings as well.
