1
Make a small sewing kit. Bring safety pins, tiny scissors, a needle and thread that matches your dress. Don't worry about matching thread to your guy's tux. He's a guy--if he splits his pants, he'll leave the dance. Any other rip won't matter to him.

2
Think about personal care. Breath mints, deodorant, tampons and pads are must-haves. Even if you don't think you'll need them, you may just save your best friend a whole lot of embarrassment. Don't rely on vending machines-they might be empty when you need them most.

3
Stow away some makeup and makeup removing towelettes. Don't bring your entire collection, just the basics. Eyeliner, mascara and lipstick usually do nicely. If you wear contacts, bring your case and solution as well.
-
4
Avoid runs in your nylons. This is Prom Planning 101. Bring clear nail polish for a quick run-stopper and a second pair of nylons in case you have a real blowout.
-
5
Bring hair repair. Bobby pins, a comb and hairspray can work wonders. A travel-sized curling iron and sympathetic best friend can work miracles.
-
6
Remember the odds and ends. A lint brush, tiny tube of super glue, tissues, aspirin, antacids, earring backs, anti-static spray, nail file, colored nail polish and small bandages can all be prom-savers.
-
7
Add a small amount of cash and a charged cell phone to your emergency prom tool kit. The after-party may have an entrance fee. You might end up needing a cab. A group could decide to go in for pizza. Don't plan on your date to cover the unexpected; be ready just in case.
