City shorts are to pants what the mini-skirt is to dresses. City shorts can be worn in a professional casual setting. They are suitable for the office on those hot summer days as well as a night on the town. The following steps will show you the correct way to wear city shorts.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase shorts that sit just below the waist line. The cuffs should hang at knee length and be no higher than about 3 inches above the knee.

  2. Step 2

Make sure your shorts are loose fitting to look your best. Tight city shorts are never pretty.

  3. Step 3

Wear high heels with your city shorts to keep the professional look. For casual looks, wear sandals or wedges.

  4. Step 4

Wear a matching blazer with your city shorts in the office. Throw on a casual top if you are not going for the professional look.

  5. Step 5

Accessorize with a purse and jewelry. Wear classy jewelry, such as pearls, with your outfit to dress it up, or wear simple small pieces of jewelry to dress it down.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't wear flats with your city shorts. The only way to pull off the look in flats is if you have very long, thin legs.
  • Don't wear a belt with your city shorts when tucking the shirt in.
  • Be careful of pasty white legs. Wear pantyhose under your city shorts if your legs are super white or if you are in an office setting.
