How to Knit a Gingham Pattern

Knitting is a very relaxing hobby. Gingham is a fun pattern and looks like old gingham cloth. You can use any size knitting needles and two different colors of yarn to make the gingham pattern. Here are the steps to knit the gingham pattern.

Instructions

1. Use the first color and cast the yarn onto one needle in multiples of 10 + 2. The first row is the right side. Row 1: Using the second color, knit 1, *(slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back) twice, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front, knit 5; repeat from * , end with knit 1. Slip the stitches to the other end of the needle.
   Row 2: With the first color knit 1, * knit 5, slip 5 stitches with the yarn in the back; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Turn.
   Row 3: With the second color knit 1, *purl 5, (slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back) twice, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Slip the stitches to the other end of the needle.
   Row 4: With the first color, knit 1, *slip 5 stitches with the yarn in front, purl 5; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Turn.
   Row 5: Repeat Row 1.
   Row 6: Repeat Row 2.

2. Row 7: Repeat Row 3.
   Row 8: Repeat Row 4.
   Row 9: Repeat Row 1.
   Row 10: With the first color, knit 1, *knit 5, (slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back) twice, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Turn.
   Row 11: With the second color, knit 1, *purl 5, slip 5 stitches with the yarn in front; repeat from *, end with knit1. Slip the stitches to the other end of the needle.
   12: With the first color, knit 1, *(slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back) twice, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front, purl 5; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Turn.

3. Row 13: With the second color, knit 1, *slip 5 stitches with the yarn in back, knit 5; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Slip the stitches to the other end of the needle.
   Row 14: Repeat Row 10.
   Row 15: Repeat Row 11.
   Row 16: Repeat Row 12.
   Row 17: Repeat Row 13.
   Row 18: Repeat Row 10.

4. Row 19: With the second color, knit 1, *purl 5, (slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front) twice, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Slip the stitches to the other end of the needle.
   Row 20: Repeat Row 4.
   Row 21: With the second color, knit 1, *(slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front) twice, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back, knit 5; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Slip the stitches to other end of needle.
   Row 22: Repeat Row 2.
   Row 23: Repeat Row 19.
   Row 24: Repeat Row 20.

5. Row 25: Repeat Row 21.
   Row 26: Repeat Row 22.
   Row 27: Repeat Row 19.
   Row 28: With the first color, knit 1, *(slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front) twice, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back, purl 5; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Turn.
   Row 29: Repeat Row 13.
   Row 30: With the first color, knit 1, *knit 5, (slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in front) twice, slip 1 stitch with the yarn in back; repeat from *, end with knit 1. Turn.

6. Row 31: Repeat Row 11.
   Row 32: Repeat Row 28.
   Row 33: Repeat Row 29.
   Row 34: Repeat Row 30.
   Row 35: Repeat Row 31.
   Row 36: Repeat Row 28.
