Even though the discussion of sex can be very uncomfortable on a first date, there are still many times when it is very necessary. Talking about safe sex generally leads the couples into having safe sex. The following steps will tell you how to talk to an individual about safe sex on the first date.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wait until the subject of sex is brought up on the date. You do not want to walk blindly into a conversation about sex and the other person never intended on having sex with you. Do not make a fool of yourself. You will know when its the right time to talk about this subject.

  2. Step 2

Explain your feelings on sex in general and safe sex when the topic comes up. If you do not believe in sex until marriage, the other individual needs to understand this and respect your belief.

  3. Step 3

Talk about what safe sex is. Do not assume your date knows what safe sex means. You will need to explain it in detail for them. Tell them there are many ways to engage in sex without intercourse, such as touching, fondling, or oral.

  4. Step 4

Decide as a couple which safe sex methods you will adhere by. These standards need to be discussed and decided before the situation arises. You will feel about your advanced preparedness in the long run.
