How to Set a Homepage in Opera 8

A homepage is a website that is set to be the website that is visited when you first open your browser and when you press the "Home" button in your browser. You can choose any website you would like to be your homepage and save some time if you choose a website that you visit often. Follow the steps below to set your homepage in your Opera browser.

Instructions

1. Open your Opera web browser by choosing it from the Start menu or double-clicking on the Opera browser icon.

2. Choose the "Tools" menu and click on "Preferences" to open the "Preferences" dialog box. The "Preferences" dialog box contains all of the settings related to your Opera browser.

3. Click the "General" tab at the top of the "Preferences" dialog box, if necessary, to display the general settings for your Opera browser.

4. Select how you would like to start your browser by choosing a list option from the "Startup" drop-down menu. The "Start with home page" option will let you set a homepage for your browser.

5. Type the address of the homepage you would like to use for your browser in the "Home page" text box, or click the "Use current" button to set your browser homepage to the website you are currently viewing.

6. Use your mouse to click the "OK" button to close the "Preferences" dialog box and change the homepage to the one you specified in the previous steps.

7. Close and reopen your Opera browser, and notice how it will automatically go to the homepage you have set for your browser.
