Step 1
Consider the person in need of a makeover. You need to look at as many aspects as possible in the life of the makeover-eager person your advising. Ask yourself if the person is a professional, a student, a parent or someone in need of serious life change. Consider factors like their age, body type, physical flaws and, of course, their budget.
-
Step 2
Hit the magazines. News of the latest fashion trends and advice abound for the spring. To get on top of the trends, start looking at the major fashion magazines around late winter, which is also the time that stores start releasing spring designs. Check out fashion magazines, celebrity outfits and, maybe most importantly, fashion stylist blogs such as StyleBites so you know the range of options you have.
-
Step 3
Pay attention to makeup, hair and products. While many people think about clothes when they hear "fashion," in truth the face and body are just as much a part of the product. Take an honest look at the person you're advising. Give them advice on keeping fit, using makeup correctly and trimming their long, winter hairstyle (or scruffy beard, for men) to give them good advice. Remember that the advice may not sound pretty but fashion requires some tough love.
-
Step 4
Show them how to shop. For many people, when it comes to fashion, even once they know what they want they don't know how to get it. You should familiarize yourself with inexpensive or discount stores that make available great spring designs. Take your charge with you to the mall and show him or her how to mix and match bright, basic and versatile colors to give a glowing spring effect.
