Making a baby's Easter outfit can seem daunting, but buying one is expensive, especially if you want a really cute one. It's easy to make a little dress using a vintage or simple linen pillowcase in as little as an hour. You can even make a little hat and booties to match. Read on to learn how to make a baby's Easter outfit.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Pillowcase; either vintage, white or just a pretty one
  • A second fabric that compliments the pillowcase
  • Piping, ribbon, decorative flowers or embroidery supplies
  • Straw hat fit to baby's head
  • Your easiest dress yoke pattern

Step1
Use a standard yoke dress pattern. Avoid hemming by using the hemmed part of the pillowcase as the bottom of the skirt.
Step2
Cut, conserving as much fabric as possible. Sew the pillowcase front to the back of the yoke pattern at the shoulder and then sew up the side seams. Add the piping to the edge on the bottom.
Step3
Gather the skirting with a light touch and sew along the bottom of the yoke. Set the placket edges about a quarter inch.
Step4
Add embellishment with embroidery, more piping at the hem or with ribbons. You can also add a ruffled collar.
Step5
Buy a straw hat base from your local craft store and decorate with your choice of pretty items.
Step6
Take your second material and cut large circles that will gather up to cover the baby's feet. Hem the circle after you've fit it and then string the piping or other ribbon through to gather around the ankle. You can fit it and secure the ribbon or leave it so you can tie it.
