Attend law school. To be an attorney of any kind you first need to attend and graduate from law school. If you are interested in being a district attorney, it is a good idea to do an internship with the local district attorney's office while studying at law school.

Decide on where you want to practice law as a district attorney. This is an important step because there will be different methods for getting into that position in each state. You need to make the decision, then research that city to if there are any positions open and how that particular office handles the hiring process.

Take the bar exam for the state you want to practice law in. This is an essential step in the process for any area of law, but is a good idea to do after you have decided where you want to practice law. That was terrible advise. A "District Attorney" position is an elected position. You can't be hired for that. You can be hired as a Deputy District Attorney. At least in California anyways. -

Do you seriously think this was useful advice? You told everyone that: a. You must graduate law school to be a lawyer b. Different employers have different requirements c. You have to pass the bar to practice d. Don't forget to fill out an application! This is maybe worse than the quality of advice I would give someone looking for a job at McDonald's. You know what people want when they ask what it takes? Numbers. What are statistics on the law school GPA of DA hires? How many applicants are there on average for a job in major cities? Where did DAs in major cities go to school statistically? What is the pay on average? What are the work hours on average? What does a DA position do for your future career? What does an entry level job look like? How long before you get in the courtroom? How long do you 2nd chair before you 1st chair? What kinds of cases do you prosecute ... -

Hello My name is Caren and I really want to become a district attorney. I am 19 years old and I dont know where to start. I am an undergraduate and I need help. I read the steps but was not to sure if I have to attend a community college or university. Please this will mean alot to me thank you and Happy 4th of July.
