When you are working in Microsoft Word, you may find yourself in the situation where you have an automatic page or section break appear in the exact spot you don't want it to appear. Luckily, it's very easy to move that page or section break to a different area of your document. Read on to learn how to move page or section breaks in Microsoft Word.

Step1

Start Microsoft Word, and open an existing document that contains a page or section break that you would like to move to another spot within your Word document.

Step2

Change to "Normal" view by choosing the "View" menu and clicking on "Normal." In Normal view you will be able to view your page and section breaks as a single, thin dotted line for a page break and a double, dotted line for a section break.

Step3

Select the page or section break by clicking and dragging on top of the dotted lines. You will see that the first half of the page or section break appears highlighted when you have it selected.

Step4

Choose the "Edit" menu and click on "Cut" or use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+X to cut the page or section break from where it currently is in your document.

Step5

Place your cursor in your document where you would like to move the page or section break.

Step6

Select the "Edit" menu and click on "Paste," or use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL+V to paste the page or section break so it appears where you currently have your cursor in the document.

Tips & Warnings

You can also right-click when you have the page or section break highlighted and choose "Cut" from the menu and then right-click and select "Paste" when you are ready to change the page or section break.
