Falun Gong is a spiritual practice founded in 1993 in China by Li Hongzhi. It is based on achieving the characteristics known as the "universal principles," which are truthfulness, benevolence and forbearance. It is very similar to Tai Chi. It incorporates a series of slow movement exercises and meditation. When practicing Falun Gong spirituality, your main focus is working to improve yourself according to the universal principles. Read on to learn how to practice Falun Gong spirituality.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Practice the exercises daily. There are five sets of exercises that are practiced daily in order to achieve spiritual and mental renewal. Four of the exercises are performed standing while one is done sitting. They are very simple, fluid, gentle movements combined with meditation. As you meditate, try clearing your mind as much as possible. Practicing these exercises is believed to move you closer toward developing the universal principles.

  2. Step 2

Follow the universal principles. According to the practice of Falun Gong spirituality, following the universal principles offers enlightenment to the real meaning of life.

  3. Step 3

Cultivate your "xinxing," or character, at all times. Work on making the necessary changes within yourself so that you become kinder, honest and more patient to others. The objective is to have more people cultivating xinxing, as a result benefiting society and the people around you.

  4. Step 4

Find fellow Falun Gong practitioners in your area to practice this spirituality together. It's not necessary to join others to practice the meditation and exercises, but it can be nice to be among a community of others who are practicing the universal principles the same as you.
