The American Red Cross is the most well-known disaster response organization in the world. They are the first to respond to disasters like Hurricane Katrina to ensure people are getting their basic needs met, medical care and other imminent things. Use these steps to learn more about the American Red Cross and to find out how to schedule American Red Cross speakers at your school.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what event you would like the American Red Cross speaker to attend. It is important to have all the information about the event available when talking with a representative from the American Red Cross. This should include the date of the event, the locations, the time for the speaker to arrive, the time for the speaker to present and any other important details about the event.

  2. Step 2

Visit the American Red Cross website. This will enable you to become more familiar with the missions and goals of the organization. You will also be able to look up information you would like them to cover in their presentation and find out where your local American Red Cross office is located.

  3. Step 3

Contact your local American Red Cross office. When you contact the office, state clearly who you are and who you are representing. Let them know you are looking to have a speaker or presenter come to your school for an event/assembly. They will either give you further contact information or offer to help you set up the arrangements. Follow what they say carefully so you do not have any problems with the timing of the presentation or any other hiccups in the plan.

  4. Step 4

Call to confirm. You should call the specific person who will be speaking, or a liasion for them, to confirm the time they are arriving and ask if they need any other resources, such as a projector or chalk board.
