Step 1
Install your dryer in an isolated area of the house. Even the best clothes dryer on the market will still make some noise. Because of this, it's best to put your dryer in an area where the noise won't bother you. A dryer right next to your television is much louder than a dryer that's in your garage.
-
Step 2
Put your dryer behind closed doors. It seems like common sense, but it makes a big difference in the noise level of your dryer. Close the door to the laundry room whenever you're running your clothes dryer. If your laundry room does not have doors, you can install one. If your laundry room is off of a hallway, bi-fold doors will help to reduce the noise level.

Step 3
Check to see if your clothes dryer needs to be repaired. Sometimes, dryer noise may be a result of a problem. Call a repairman to see if the noise is worth worrying about. Or if you're an expert, you can troubleshoot the clothes dryer yourself. It's possible that a simple fix will help reduce the dryer noise.

Step 4
Buy a new dryer. Sometimes, the best fix is to upgrade. Several appliance manufacturers make clothes dryers that are designed to be quiet. These models will cost more than others, but it might be worth it if dryer noise is a significant problem in your house.
