Things You'll Need:
- Box of white cake mix
- White frosting, two cans
- Jelly beans
- Fondant or marzipan
- Toothpicks
- Flaked coconut
- Licorice
-
Step 1
Bake a white cake according to the directions on the cake mix box, being sure to use one 9-inch round cake pan and two 6-inch round cake pans. Let the cakes cool on a wire rack.
-
Step 2
Use a long serrated knife to cut the 9-inch cake in half, forming two half-moon shapes. Spread 1/3 cup of frosting on top of one of the halves and place the other half on top, making a sandwich. Place this on a 12-inch platter, cut side down. Frost it with a thin coating of frosting. This will be the bunny's body.
-
Step 3
Make the bunny's hindquarters. Cut one of the 6-inch cakes in half, forming two half-moon shapes. Stand one of these halves with the cut side down and cut a small V in the far right of the rounded top of the cake. Do the same with the other cake half. Attach one of the halves to either side of the Easter Bunny cake body using a little bit of frosting. Now seal the cake using a little more frosting.
-
Step 4
Cut the other 6-inch cake using a 4-inch biscuit cutter, leaving enough room to cut out a 2-inch piece. These will be the head and tail.
-
Step 5
Insert six or eight toothpicks into the front of the body of the bunny cake, and then carefully place the head on top of the toothpicks. Attach the tail on the back with two toothpicks in the same manner as the head.
-
Step 6
Buy store-bought marzipan or fondant for the ears. Mold into rabbit ears. Apply the ears to the head by laying the ears on the top of the head and draping them down the sides.
-
Step 7
Spread white frosting on the entire cake. Use jellybeans for the eyes and nose. Cover the entire bunny cake in coconut for his fur. Use licorice for whiskers.
