The steps below will walk you through finding more information on coaching and becoming a Special Olympics coach.

Step1
Visit the Special Olympics website to learn more about the Special Olympics. Explore the "Coach" section of the website to read about the important role that coaches play in the Special Olympics.
Step2
Read the "Coaching Guides" located in the "Coach" section of the Special Olympics website. These guides will take you through all of the components of becoming and being a Special Olympics coach. You will learn the basics of the Special Olympics, sport safety, risk management, preparing athletes and other topics pertaining to being a Special Olympics coach.
Step3
Use the "Find a Location" portion of the Special Olympics website to find your local Special Olympics website, or find the phone number for the local office in your phone book.
Step4
Visit the local Special Olympics website or call them to find out when the next orientation session on being a coach takes place.
Step5
Attend the "Special Olympics General Orientation" and ask any questions you may have on coaching. Make sure you understand the process of becoming a coach.
Step6
Complete an approved Special Olympics course either in your local area or online through the Special Olympics website.
Step7
Accept your assignment of athletes and begin coaching your team.
