The Special Olympics gives children with disabilities the chance to be a part of a sporting team and feel empowered despite their disability. There are more than 200 Special Olympic programs across the globe in 165 countries. It's easy to register your child to be a part of this wonderful organization. The steps below will guide your through the process of registering your child for the Special Olympics.

Step1
Visit the Special Olympics website and use the "Program Locator" to find a Special Olympics program in your regional area. The "Program Locator" will give you the link to your regional or state Special Olympics program.
Step2
Go to your state or regional Special Olympics website, find the eligibility requirements and make sure that your child meets these requirements. To be able to participate in the Special Olympics, your child must be at least 8 years old and be identified by an agency or a professional as having a condition that makes them eligible to participate in the Special Olympics.
Step3
Use the Internet or the phone book to look up your regional or state director of the Special Olympics if you have any questions on eligibility or would like to be mailed the forms so you can register your child.
Step4
Download and print the "Special Olympics Athlete Enrollment" forms for your state or region.
Step5
Fill out the "Athlete Information Form" and "Medical/Parent Release Form."
Step6
Take your child to a physical examination where he can be examined and have his medical history taken.
Step7
Mail all the completed forms to the address of your state or regional Special Olympics office.
