How to Apply Tire Dressing

Having shiny, new-appearing tires makes your vehicle look just that much better--especially when combined with a nicely waxed body. Fortunately, tire dressing is easy to apply yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrub the tire first with a scrubbing brush and soap. You can find soap for tires at any auto parts store. Allow the tires to dry before continuing to the next step.

    • 2

Purchase gloves for your hands. Tire dressing can be rather messy and hard to wash off. Gloves help protect your hands, and save you the trouble of having to scrub them after applying the dressing to your tires. Any gloves will do, such as rubber gloves you would use to clean your sink, or latex gloves.

    • 3

Get a foam applicator to apply the tire dressing. The foam applicators help you apply the tire dressing more evenly. Find these applicators at the auto parts store.

    • 4

Spray the tire dressing to the foam applicator, then apply the dressing to the tire. Apply more than one coat as needed. Don't worry if you have any excess dressing that runs down the wheel rims.

    • 5

Wash your car after applying the tire dressing. This allows you to wash away any excess tire dressing that may have dripped onto the wheel.
