How to Build a Snowboard Box
If you're lucky enough to have access to some land with a good hill on it, don't let it go to waste in the winter months, use it to build a snowboard park. One of the fun things you can add to it is a snowboard box. Here are the basics of how to build a simple snowboard box to add to your snowboard park.
Things You'll Need
- 2-by-4 wood, precut to 1.5-foot and 8-foot lengths
- Sheets of plywood
- Wood nails
- Wood screws
- Sheets of polycarbonate plastic
- Drill and bits
- Counter sink drill bit

1
Scout out an area that will work to build the box and ramps. Use the natural landscape to your advantage looking for small hills to build ramps on. Even if you don't have land with a hill, try to find the most open area possible that is clear of any obstacles that the snowboarder could hit when coming off the box.

2
Use 2-by-4 boards to construct a frame about 1½ feet high and 8 feet long. Place 2-by-4 braces along the top every few feet for added support and to give a place to anchor the plywood for the outside of the box.

3
Attach sheets of plywood to complete the sides and top of the box. The plywood can be attached with nails or wood screws, but be sure that the wood is completely butted against each piece and no gaps are evident when you build the snowboard box.
-
4
Finish the top of the box by attaching a sheet of polycarbonate plastic, making sure the screws are counter sunk to avoid having the board catch on them. Use a drill bit that is meant to counter sink screws to drill the hole before attempting to put the wood screws in.

Tips & Warnings
Remember use for this snowboard box when you build it. This type of box isn't meant to ride on the sides, only the top.
Trying to ride the sides will eventually tear up the snowboard, so be careful when riding it.
